It's not that we grew up and came to know about beauty standards all of sudden. Our childhood was filled with Snow White and her stepmother who was obsessed being fairest of all, BEAUTY and the Beast, Rapunzel and her long hair, the sleeping BEAUTY, Barbie etc. We recited poems, listened to the stories and watched movies mindlessly but who knew it could become reality someday?

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who Is the Fairest One of All? Is no more dialogue from famous snow white but a ritual we're asked to practice every day.

We are forced to believe in the idealistic norms of beauty set by society. Our self-worth is so very often determined by others' perception.
We have to live up to the parameters of beauty which we are constantly reminded via social media pictures, posters & advertisements
As the old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover but it is 2020 now and people still get judged by their outer appearance.
Whether it be skin colour, weight, height, skin, hair, teeth or anything else, people look down upon someone if his/her appearance is a little different than the "norm".

Omg, you look so fat/slim" "Did you tan yourself or it's your actual colour?" "Look  you got double chin" "Look at your hair so thin" "Don't consume to much oil, you're getting so many pimples"

The words related to our appearance sometimes leaves a mark on our mind and soul. We try hard not to believe them but deep down we feel their words are painted on our face, our body and unfortunately many teenagers start looking at themselves with others point of view.

Judging someone on their appearance is not at all acceptable. Doesn't matter if its height, weight, skin tone, or anything else. We shouldn't judge a person by their exterior because we don't know their story. We don't know why they are the way they are.

Can you related to it?
